Dental FAQ
How does Mediq ensure patient comfort during dental procedures?
At Mediq, patient comfort and anxiety management are top priorities. We employ various techniques to ensure a comfortable experience, including sedation options for anxious patients, gentle dental techniques, and a warm, inviting clinic environment. Our team is trained to support patients through every step of their dental care journey.
What are the signs I might need a root canal treatment?
Symptoms that may indicate the need for a root canal include severe toothache, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold, tooth discoloration, gum swelling, and tenderness. If you experience any of these symptoms, it’s important to schedule a consultation with our dental team for an evaluation.
What can I expect during my first dental visit at Mediq?
Your first visit is important to us as it sets the foundation for your oral health care. It typically involves a comprehensive dental examination, including checks for cavities, gum disease, and any other oral health issues. Depending on your dental health status, we may also perform a cleaning. We’ll discuss your dental history, any concerns you have, and create a personalized treatment plan.
Can cosmetic dentistry improve my oral health, or is it just for appearances?
Our GPs provide a comprehensive range of preventive care services designed to maintain your health and prevent illness. These include routine health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and cancer screenings specific to age and risk factors. We also offer immunizations, lifestyle and nutritional counseling, and mental health assessments to support your overall well-being.
Are dental implants a good option for everyone?
Dental implants are an excellent solution for replacing missing teeth and are suitable for most adults with good general and oral health. However, the best candidates have healthy gum tissues and sufficient bone density to support the implant. A thorough evaluation by our dental team can determine if implants are the right choice for you.
What is the difference between a dental cleaning and a deep cleaning?
A standard dental cleaning (prophylaxis) removes plaque and tartar from above the gum line and is recommended bi-annually for patients with good oral health. A deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) is a more intensive procedure aimed at removing bacteria and tartar from below the gum line, often prescribed for patients with signs of gum disease.
